one more for the road
Sometimes in life, the challenges we face seem insurmountable. The loss too great. The grief unbearable. We were never meant to do this alone. We are designed for relationship.
Allow me to bear witness to your journey. To celebrate your successes and grieve your losses. Let me use our relationship to shed a light on who you are alone and who you are in the world.

trevor birrell
I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor who originally trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling College in Toronto. My thesis focused on expressive arts therapy for the preoccupied client. Since then, I have completed a Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Wilfrid Laurier University and the 30-hour Foundations of Clinical Supervision course at the University of Ottawa.
I have a rich history in the arts and in storytelling. I earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson) University and a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate/Senior Dramatic Arts and English from OISE/U of T. Telling your story through the arts can help you make sense of your past and consider ways to change your story for the future. I bring years of experience in education counselling to my therapeutic work with children, teenagers, and adults.
I am RTR-S (Relational Trauma Repair - Sociometrics) certified with NAADAC. I continue to engage in monthly psychodrama training with Dr. Tian Dayton and other professional development opportunities.

great influencers
My therapeutic work is influenced by the following great thinkers and their work: Alfred Adler's Birth Order, Goal-Orientation, and Social Context theories; John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth's Attachment Theory; Tian Dayton's approach to Psychodrama, Harville Hendrix's IMAGO Therapy for couples; Carl Jung's concept of The Shadow; Violet Oaklander's Gestalt Play Therapy model, Carl Rogers's Client-Centered Therapy model; and Natalie Rogers's Expressive Arts Therapy model The Creative Connection.
I often provide clients with a reading list to further the psychoeducation offered in each session and assign personal tasks to attempt at home to deepen the healing and learning between appointments.
